2021, week 13: My Dream Wedding
No, this is not an announcement. I just wanted to do something a little light-hearted and fun, so let's look at what I would do for my dream wedding! (Keep in mind that I 100% plan to elope whenever I do get married, then have a reception a month or so later;)
***all pictures are from Pinterest***
The Proposal
I dunno, something cheesy like this would be fun. :)
I'm left-handed, so I don't want a huge ring!
Announcing the Engagement
I'd love if someone caught the actual proposal, but if they don't the announcement will show BOTH of our faces and the ring!
Engagement Photos
I want most, if not ALL, photos to show BOTH of our faces.
One of my biggest pet peeves is when the guy's face is blurred!
I want most of the photos to be simple shots.
Not quite candid, but not overly staged.
Nature is a big part of my life and I'm sure it'll be a big part of his,
so it just makes sense for the engagement shoot to take place outside!
I wanna highlight some of the quirks of the relationship!
And I want some symbolism.
Invitations
I love simple invitations that have all the info stated clearly and then a picture of the couple.
But I would LOVE to have a winter-themed wedding, so I also love this design!
If you're invited to my reception this WILL be on your RSVP card!
Bridal shower/bachelorette party
Yes, they're going to be combined.
I want one simple theme: tea party.
Doesn't this look so cozy?!
(Obviously we'll have comfy chairs too)
And we'll have yummy snacks!
Quotes/what our relationship will be built upon
The Men
Soo cute!
I'd love the groom to be in blue, groomsmen in grey, and everyone in brown shoes.
And vests are fun!
Seriously, I love them!
The Women
Cute!
Pretty and simple!
To bring in the autumn/holiday vibes.
My Outfit
So pretty!
Something a-line, probably more of an empire waist.
Just a hair clip, nothing too out of the ordinary!
The Reception
This is so helpful for friends & extended family
that might not know how everything came to be!
I'd really like to have some pictures during those time periods as well :)
I'd LOVE to have an autumn reception.
Again, tying in nature but keeping it simple :)
I'd actually love for my reception to be more like a lunchtime picnic :)
Simple and yummy.
So delicious!
With yummy drinks too!
And games!
I've always known I'd want my reception to be kid-friendly;
they'll even have a stuffed animal toss!
A few things done differently
You likely know that I like to mix things up, not stick to societal norms.
My wedding reception will reflect that.
Here are some things that I want to do a little differently.
In the age of social media I know our guests will be taking pictures.
Well, rather than having to hunt down every guest months after the wedding to make sure we have a copy of the pictures we'll just kindly ask them to use our custom hashtag.
I know the word adventure is overused,
but, like, I wanna spend the rest of my life adventuring with my guy!
So, instead of a guestbook that we'll never look at,
I'd like to have a bucket where every guest can give us an idea
to put on our bucket list.
Seeing as how I'm already 28 and have the basics to furnish a home
(and I assume I'll marry someone who also owns such things)
I don't want a traditional wedding registry full of pots and pans, shower curtains, and a vacuum.
But, going back to adventures, I'd like to have a registry for experiences.
Photography
Gotta have some forehead kissin' and cuddlin'.
Give me the candid shots!
Ooh, and some black and white shots <3
Make sure that we are BOTH looking at the camera, please.
We solemnly swear that we are up to no good.
Reactions to the bride's and groom's outfits will be so sweet. <3
Again, candid shots!
And tell me who's who.
That'll make it easier to post on social media and not have to answer the same question :)
Whew! We did it, y'all. Now you know what my dream wedding looks like. Now, I know that another person, the groom, will have a say in these decisions. And for all I know things may change completely! But, at this point in time, this is my dream wedding and I hope that someday soon I'll find my man and we'll get to plan something as spectacular as I've dreamed. <3
Love,
D. J. Lathrop

If you're already married, what was your favorite part of your wedding? Is there anything you'd do differently?
