Celebrate Life

I was able to go to my Auntie's memorial service on Saturday. And let me tell you, it was something else. ;)

My family is crazy and dysfunctional (one of my uncles actually said that in his remarks!). But I love them. The aunt that passed away loved life and loved to laugh. So....... she said she didn't want a funeral in a church. She wanted a simple graveside memorial. 

My aunts and uncles knew how to make it perfect for her. ❤️ Between the jokes, anecdotes, playing her favorite songs, and love that was shared..... it was THE. PERFECT. DAY.

We all cried because she was gone. 

We all chuckled because of her fan girl crush on Bobby Sherman as we listened to his song "Julie, Do You Love Me". (Listen to the song here:  https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=JsMONykezJM )

We all cheered as my uncle danced to the song while we played it at the graveside. :)

We all smiled as her siblings recounted their favorite memories of her. ❤️ 

Before we knew it the service was over. But we weren't done. One final thing needed to be done...... Auntie's favorite song was played. We all danced, sang along, and cheered as we celebrated Auntie's life. THEN we released balloons into heaven, so that she could see we were smiling. That we would all love life as much as she did. ❤️
