Bonus post: The Best Reason I Skipped Class
Dr. J,
I will not be in class tomorrow.
I don't have a "good" reason for not being there; I have no illness nor has there been a family emergency. Rather, I have decided to give myself a 3-day weekend. Everyone else enjoyed a long weekend last week, but I had to work for most of it. Therefore, I am making this Friday-Sunday my long weekend.
I will, however, think about the logo re-design project and I'll actually probably spend quite a bit of time on research for it.
You see, my plan for my long weekend is to spend an entire day (in reality 3-5 hours) at Barnes & Noble enjoying a warm beverage and perusing the many, many books that I desire to possess but do not have the money to purchase them with, nor the space to store them, and I especially don't have the time to read them.
I will, however, judge the covers of said books harshly, perhaps not entirely condoning them due to their lack of contrast, or the wonky alignment(s), and the questionable proximities of the background graphics to the words on the cover, but they will indeed be judged.
I hope that was convincing enough for you because writing this message has now convinced me that I do indeed need to take this trip to Barnes & Noble and pass harsh judgment upon the covers of all (most) of the books and magazines.

That is word for word, punctuation mark for punctuation mark what I sent to my professor. He emailed me back and said it was the greatest excuse for skipping class he'd ever heard. The next week in class he told me that he'd actually read it to the entire class and said that if you're going to skip class this is the way to do it.
Sadly, I did not get to take my trip to Barnes & Noble, because I woke up in the middle of the night with a stomach bug.
If you've skipped class what was your excuse? I'd love to hear your story!
