2021, week 5: A Tour of my Pantry

Please keep in mind that:

  • I am a college student
  • I only work part-time, a.k.a. living on a strict budget
  • space is limited because I have roommates
  • and I prefer quick meals.

Now, here's a picture of my 2 pantry shelves.

I'll start on the lower shelf and work left to right.

Here are some of my breakfast items. Because of my acid reflux I don't really eat breakfast, I mainly just drink water and juice the first few hours that I'm awake.

Here I keep drink mixes. I've got loads of herbal teas, some hot chocolate, and some caffeinated fruit drink mix.

This is where I keep snacks. I always have saltines and applesauce cups on hand. Fun fact: I rarely eat eggs. However, I do like to bake! Applesauce is a substitute for eggs, so I never have to double-check that I have eggs before I bake something!

I love biscuits and gravy! This is the yummiest gravy mix I've found.

You know this is the pantry of a college student! Like I mentioned before I'm not much for breakfast, but having oatmeal handy is always a good idea.

I've been craving mac 'n' cheese and this is my favorite brand. I also keep vegetable broth and chicken broth on hand.

Now we've moved to the top shelf. Here I keep less-used items up here. I've got 2 boxes of granola cereal, some pasta, my Bento lunchbox, and some chocolate chips.

I keep my pastas, potato, and baking things in this box.

This bin holds different soups, chili, etc.

These hide behind the soups shown above.

This bin holds canned veggies.

This bin is kind of a catch all: canned fruit, sauces, and an insane amount of Spam.

My fave dip: 1 of these, a small tub of sour cream, and 1 can of refried beans. Yum!

Chicken tikka masala is one of my favorite meals!

I love a grilled cheese sandwich. If I want extra protein I'll toss on a slice of Spam.

Love,
D. J. Lathrop
