I don't math but... children = education and marriage = work

I want to be a wife and mother.. that's one of my biggest dreams and aspirations, so why am I getting a bachelor's degree and planning to go to get my master's?

I don't feel obligated to tell y'all, but I feel like getting this off my chest might do me some good and help y'all to understand where I'm coming from. :)

Quick glimpse at the past 10 years:
- 2009: Graduated high school.
- 2010: Work full time, student part-time.
- 2011: LDS Business College.
- 2012: Graduated w/ a certificate in Administrative Assisting. Decided that I did NOT want to marry the man that I'd waited 3 years for.
- 2013 & 2014: Mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
- 2015-2016: Started a career in finance and banking. Part-time student.
- 2017: Moved to Utah, to go pursue a degree in elementary education. Job shadowing at schools. Working part-time in retail.
- 2018: Working part-time in university's library. Changed my major to English, emphasis in Creative Writing.
- 2019: Promoted! Supervisor in university's library. Upper division English classes. Internship in English department. Freelance review business. Got a few articles published online. Offered position as managing editor for the school's literary magazine.
- 2020: Still loving working in the library. Managing Editor of The Southern Quill. Environmental Science study abroad in South Africa in May! Will GRADUATE in December!

I've always loved learning, so I thought I'd be a teacher. But once I started the introductory teaching classes here at Dixie State University it didn't feel like the right path for me. In 2018 when I started working at the University's library I got a glimpse at how teaching isn't always linked to a teaching license.

I'm not sure how my life will turn out, or where I'll be in 5 years. Because my #1 wish still is to be a wife and a mother, but I'm not at that stage of life yet.
So, for now, I'm focusing on learning all that I can, letting how, when, and what I learn help to shape me. I'm creating my own culture and letting it help me become a better person.

I never intended to write to be published, and, for the most part, I still don't. But, freelance writing is helping me to understand how powerful words can be, the influence and encouragement that others may need. All I know is that I want to help others to learn and to grow. Does that mean I'll go on to get a Master's degree. I'm undecided about that, but I love the idea of that possibility.

Thanks for reading this update on my life!
What do you think my next step should be?

Love,
D. J. Lathrop
