Non-conformity
I didn't have to sleep with a ton of guys to decide that I wanted to wait until marriage to have sex.
My role models? Luna Lovegood and Ms. Frizzle.
Make your own rules!
Spend time to build your own life and culture.
Be different. Don't be afraid of it!
Identify what you want to do with your life - and then be true to it!
Study it out. Does it make sense? Do you support it?
"Why are you trying to blend in when you're born to stand out?" -What A Girl Wants
I know that I don't have traditional role models. I'll own that! It's not because I want to defy tradition.. They are themselves. They found out their true self and they let it show, no matter how weird and quirky they may be perceived. They let their true colors shine through and that's what I'm striving for too!
I love bright pants. Yes, I'm that girl.. the one that stands out because of her clothes. I might stand out, but not because of beauty or a bubbly personality. Bright clothes make me happy. I don't have bright clothes for the winter season, so I'm excited for spring and summer to arrive, so I can bring bright colors back into my wardrobe.
Each person is individual and unique. We each bring interesting characteristics to the world, specifically within our social circle (no matter how small or large). We have the potential to influence many people, and they also have the opportunity to influence.
I've never liked attention. I'm a middle child, so I was used to attention being elsewhere. I was used to blending in. For the most part, I still try to blend in (except for when I wear bright pants). Once I get to know someone, they see my quirks and we share our thoughts on deeper topics. That's when they realize that I'm not 'normal'.
I support things that I love and believe will benefit society! Most of society won't support my views.. at least, not right now. But that's okay, because I'm simply going to be me. :D
I support open voices, whatever they may be. Opinions matter and they need to be heard. I do believe that the right avenues should be used to do so (not disrespecting others' privacy and points of view).
I could share some of the things that I'm passionate about. I could share why I don't support certain things. In time I'll address those topics... but now? I want to hear from you!
What does non-conformity mean?
How does it affect society?!
